Agraha is a newly open hotel and restaurant located on Jl. Veteran next to Auto2000 car dealer. As it's written on the neon sign, their specializations are duck, porridge and dimsum. Obviously their target is people who love Chinese or oriental food.
My friend - Devy - was curious about the dimsum. She is Chinese and it's their habit to have "dimsum time" at breakfast hour on holiday. Dimsum time is the occasion where they can spend time with their family and friends while enjoying dimsum (a set of dumplings) and I think it's also their way to socialize in Chinese community because sometime in such occasion, they could meet relatives or acquaintances they haven't seen for long.
They placed the restaurant exactly at the main entrance of the building. So when you open the door you can spot the table and crowd of people are eating there, but the room is not too spacious though. At the kitchen counter you can see poor peking duck and chicken are hung at their neck hopelessly, mmmmm...interesting.
As we open the menu list, they also offer other dishes, too bad the dimsum choices were less than 10 items. Other thing that also a little bit bothering is that the service was real slow, the food is served after waiting for almost like ages. We need to ask at least twice before they bring us the spoon, fork and small plate.
So, here what we ordered :
1. Siomay
It's steamed dumpling with shrimps, mushroom and chicken inside. The taste is nice, but according to Devy it's a little bit smelly - which I didn't really notice :p
2. Hakao
Hakao is also steamed but what you can only found inside is the shrimps. I don't really understand about good dumpling but this hakao failed to impress Devy
3. Fried Kembang Tahu
This dish is also failed to pass Devy's criteria ...hehe....its's fried but not crunchy. It's also filled with whole small shrimps.
Price for each type of dumpling is Rp. 9.500 per plate.
Duck Porridge : the porridge is just too liquid for me, you can find chopped of ginger in it, but don't worry the ginger taste is not annoying. The roasted duck is fine and if you want you can add white pepper or bird eyes chili pepper. ( price : Rp. 18.000 )
Duck Fried Noodle : well...I think the noodle is not too special, just average but ok. The portion is big enough to full your stomach. ( price : Rp. 28.000 )
We drink Chinese tea to neutralize the cholesterol , one pot of Chinese tea is enough for 3 people. ( price : Rp. 15.000 )
All the prices are not including 15 % tax, but in promotion period they give 20% discount. Will we come back ? mmmmmm.....maybe later.
