Mie Aceh Icoet Km 8,5

My friend asked if I want to try Mie Aceh near her home, a popular noodle dish from Aceh province. She said they are using ganja ( or marijuana aka cannabis) as the spices. Aceh is the province at the northern of Sumatera Island which suffered from tsunami many years ago. Known as Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD), they govern the province as special territory.

In the past, Aceh was like "little Cuba", all the news were just about ganja smuggling and the found of ganja field around the territory. It's kind of sad as the fact that Aceh is the most religious province in my country where Islam was first established in Southeast Asia. And it's like the stereotype that Aceh people are using ganja as spices for their cooking style. That is how the Mie Aceh addiction effect's theory came up. But no one has really prove the theory of ganja as spices in Aceh dishes.

Back to the noodle, finally my friend and I tried the Mie Aceh. We ordered the original with beef, they also have the crab noodle which served with big delicious crab. The place name is Mie Aceh Icoet, 8,5 km from the city. From the look of the noodle, you can guess that it is spicy. And the coconut water made it a perfect meal time.

The Vote

I made my vote on 9 am, it was very quick vote because not many people yet coming to the election post. Unlike the year of 2004, this second direct president election period is not too enthusiastic.

I gave my invitation letter, took the vote card, made the thick mark at the candidate's number and finally put my finger inside the ink bottle as the sign that I've voted,....done.

Whoever the President, it wont change much to the situation that I am facing. So, I will just enjoy my Lontong. Lontong or rice cake is common food for breakfast in my country. Very easy to find Lontong in early morning, and it's also cheap, less than a dollar.

And the best thing : today is holiday :p

Spooky Night

Last night, 7th July 2009 was a spooky night.

I was googling for foreign language course in my city, if there's any. I've called the foreign language center at my old university but their schedule doesn't fit me since I could only take class on saturday.

There are 3 languages that I am interested in :

• French - because I love french butter so much
• German - I want to say "wurst" in correct pronunciation
• Japan - I always enjoy J-dorama and ramen

I found the address of Alliance Française (AF) in my city, no idea if it's still updated but I will call them later for more info. I hope they are still exist. My -German course in Palembang- search directed to a blog, the owner manages about 10 blogs, one of the blog title is "Wir Lernen Deutsch", I couldn't find any clue for the address and contact number so I left my email on comment asking for the course location.

His other blogs seem interesting, I read the tourism & travel before jumped to others. His last post was about Obonk Steak & Ribs restaurant at Patal, 10 minutes from my home.

But wait....something weird at the shoutbox / guestbook in one of the blogs, two people wrote something like...I hope you rest in peace, goodbye and it's a great lost ....being curious I visited the page of people who left that comment.

It surprised me a lot that one big picture of a man staring at me and above the picture I could read clearly : IN MEMORIAM. The writer explained about this man (who manages 10 blogs) that he passed away at the beginning of July. He told that the German language blog could be the last blog he made. Can you imagine, I wrote to someone who is not in this world anymore.

I closed the 4 tabs of firefox in hurry, was almost midnight and I need to lay my head. Suddenly I got message in my cell, from unknown number. The short text message said : "Y...K... (my mother's name), Ema's 3rd child has died tonight" .......
